Last Month

Last Month we had a ton of amazing events! Taste of Nicaragua was a huge success! We had some delicious Nicaraguan meals, along with some cultural performances. We  was filled with wonderful cultural performances, along with an amazing Columbian meal. We also had some Immigrations Workshops led by Mark Holthe of Stringam LLP, and a tax preparation session led by PTA Accounting to help those in need of tax assistance! Please note that the April session has been cancelled! Thank you to everyone who came out to support these events!

What's Happening This Month

This month we will be having some of our Spring Sessions of the Building Cultural Bridges program. Come out Monday nights for our Free April sessions to learn about various topics such as Hutterites, Mennonites, and Christianity! Mark Holthe also presented our free immigration workshops on citizenship and labour market impact assessments for those in need of assistance. Lastly, we also had our first annual Empanada Festival on April 7th. This event featured over a dozen different empanadas from around the world! Many people came out to support the event, and it was a huge success! 

Upcoming Programs

Some amazing programs will be coming up this month and next! 

Building Cultural Bridges has been a huge success, the free weekly spring sessions will be starting April 9th until June 4th weekly at 7pm. Topics include:

  • April 16-Hutterite
  • April 23-Mennonite
  • April 30-Christian

Mark Holthe from Stringam LLP

and Southern Alberta Ethnic Association are teaming up to host free Immigration Workshops. Each week will include a different subject The workshops will be as listed:

  • April 11th – Citizenship
    April 18th – Labor Market Impact Assessment

April's Taste of

Join us on April 27th to celebrate Caribbean food, heritage and tradition with our Taste of the Caribbean! There will be an authentic meal with dessert, as well as a chance to learn about the history and culture of the Caribbean. Gluten free and vegetarian meal options also available. Tickets can be purchased online or in our office during business hours. We hope to see you there!

Coming Up in May

We have a ton of events coming up for May!

On May 25th we will be having this month’s culture night, Taste of Nii’ tsi’ tap’ ii! We will be serving a variety of traditional indigenous foods, as well as providing some amazing entertainment. Tickets are available on our website or in the office during business hours. Make sure you don’t miss this awesome event! We will also be Celebrating Cinco de Mayo at the multicultural centre!Come out t on May 5th to celebrate with the Balderas family. They will be putting on a night of festivities to commemorate this Mexican Celebration. There will be traditional food, dancing, singing, and much more! Tickets available online only at . Next up is our 1st annual Latino Zumba fundraiser! May 6th at 2:00pm we will have some great Zumba instructors and DJ Tizio to help you get in shape, while supporting a great cause. Our Building Bridges sessions will also be continuing into May, and will feature topics such as Baha’i Faith, Jehovah’s Witness, and Buddhism. Lastly, we are starting off our new Wellness Living sessions. These sessions will provide education from medical professions on various topics. May 17th will feature a presentation on Heart Disease! We Hope to see you at these great events!

Membership Information

In order to be a part of our organization, membership applications can be filled out as an individual, which costs $25 a year, or a group, which costs $50 a year.
